FTIR₃ Oil Analyser

Ferrous Wear Meter

The Ferrous Wear Meter (FWM) measures the level of metallic wear in samples taken from cylinder scrapedown oil. It is a simple to use product offering excellent accuracy and reliability.

This unit is ideal for on-board testing and analysis of scrapedown oils for metallic wear, indicating a high level of cylinder liner wear. A 5ml test tube filled with the sample is placed directly into the hole in the instrument, and the metallic content in parts per million (PPM) is displayed on the screen in under 2 seconds.

Used together with the Cold Corrosion Test Kit, it is possible to obtain total iron measurements from your ship cylinder oil.


Cold Corrosion Test Kit

The lube oil for large 2-stroke and 4-stroke marine diesel engines must contend with high temperatures and acidic products formed during the combustion of bunker oils rich in sulphur.

The Cold Corrosion test kit is a fast and simple-to-use chemical test providing accurate measurements of parts per million (PPM) value of Fe2+ and Fe3+ compounds in used scrapedown oil. A more accurate measurement that other tests available on the market, this kit allows for informed decisions to be made in adjustments to feed rates and the Base Number (BN) of the oil used.

EasySHIP DIGI Field Kit

The DIGI Water and BN Test Kit is an on-board oil test solution range providing simple, accurate results for water in oil and base number.

With a level of accuracy suited to routine analysis, easy-to-read digital display providing instructions and results, a 5-year (5000 tests) battery life, and built in memory for recording previous test results, the Parker Kittiwake DIGI Cell has become a favoured test method worldwide for on-board testing.

Test Cells are available for either Water in Oil or Base Number (BN). Alternatively, a DIGI Combined Test Cell is available that performs both test measurements in a single cell.


Cat Fines Test Kit (Al & Si)

The Parker Kittiwake Cat Fines Test kit detects catalytic fines to prevent irreparable damage to fuel pumps, injectors, piston rings and liners.

Much of the heavy fuel oil (HFO) burned in the cylinders of large 2-stroke and 4-stroke marine diesel engines is contaminated with hard particles known as catalytic (cat) fines. These particles can cause highly damaging abrasive wear to cylinder liners during the combustion process.

The Cat Fines Test Kit has been designed to flag up HFO samples that may be contaminated with dangerous levels of car fines before the fuel has even been pumped aboard. Simple and cost effective, the test can be completed within a few minutes.

Example results demonstrate that this test is capable of identifying those fuel samples that have a cat fine concentration of > 60 ppm (Al + Si), which exceed the limit recommended by ISO 8217:2012. The test provides the crew with a very clear “sail” or “don’t sail” indication with regards to fuel quality.


OilCheck Hand Held Monitor

OilCheck both detects and analyses the dielectric constant of oil, in a compact, portable, hand-held monitor. When used regularly, this device will provide engineers with warning of impending engine failure, allowing them to act in advance.

The device gives reliable and consistent readings of oil contamination, advising when oil should be changed. This is achieved by comparing the measurements obtained from a used sample with a control sample of the same brand. A numerical display shows positive or negative fluctuations in dielectrics, which can be compared against the red / green efficiency scale. The device is battery powered.


ECON Total Acid Number Drop test pack

Total Acid Number (TAN) testing is a measure of both weak organic acids and strong inorganic acids present within oil. Testing for TAN is essential in order to protect and maintain your equipment, preventing damage in advance. A rise in TAN is indicative of oil oxidation due to time and / or operating temperature.

The ECON TAN Drop test pack comes in a sturdy case, which contains all of the necessary reagents and equipment for a fully portable Acid number test. By using a small sample size and a clear container, the result is shown by a colour change after adding titrant from a dropper into the mixing vessel.



The Parker Kittiwake LinerSCAN is the world’s first real-time alarm system for engine liner wear, marking a new era in asset protection.

LinerSCAN is designed to remove the uncertainty of cylinder liner damage which can result from low fuel quality, slow steaming, low sulphur levels, lower oil feed rates and cylinder oil formulation changes. Multiple trials have shown that LinerSCAN highlights the first signs of damage earlier than other systems and enables safe reduction of lubricant feed rate. LinerSCAN is a fully automated system, and can help to save money by optimising the lubricant feed rate, reducing your maintenance loads and by helping to prevent unnecessary engine damage.
