SIMPLEX-COMPACT airspace sealing system

Airspace seal

This anti-pollution seal uses four self-supporting lip rings and incorporates an air chamber with controlled venting an no loss of air into the seawater. The system also has the ability to be switched over to a standard seal with a pressure control system in times of emergency.

As with other Simplex seals the lip rings can be replaced without uncoupling the tail shaft or removing the propeller.

This airspace seal installation diagram shows the latest standard with a pipe connection between seal and oil tank at the bottom of the seal and an additional oil chamber vent pipe connected on top of the seal. This revised design offers the opportunity to fill the oil chamber via the oil tank and vent the chamber at the same time.

For small shaft diameters and water lubricated sterntubes, vessels using inland water ways, coastal vessels, yachts and high speed naval or coastal protection applications.

Net pick up

This simple but effective component catches any fishing line or netting not kept off the seal by the rope guard. Any net or line is caught in the net pick-up channel and is so prevented from reaching the seal box without affecting the flow of water to the propeller.

Netting and fishing lines not kept off the rope guard are taken up by the net protection ring with its U-shaped cross-section. With increasing amounts of netting or lines filling up the ring the entry gap decreases and finally closes completely, so preventing access to the SC2 seal.

TURBULO bilge water separators

The Turbulo-MPB bilge water separator is fully compliant with IMO resolutions MEPC 107 (49) approved by class and the USCG.

The MPB (mechanical phase breaker) bilge water separator is a two stage system, the first stage operating as the well known and established gravitation method using oleophilic coalescer inserts and with the second 'breaking' stage using HycaSep filtration elements to separate mechanical emulsions.

The units are supplied with all heating, temperature regulation, electrics, oil content alarms, pipework and 18 month recording device required by the new resolution. The MPB separators are available in a range of six sizes from 0.25m³/h to 10m³/h.

Spare parts are also still available for the TCs-HD and other turbulo separators.

Stabilisers

Swing fin and fixed fin stabilisers

Fixed Fin
The optimal solution for yachts, passenger ships, and ferries, as well as for naval surface craft. The stabilisers are non-retractable and do not protrude beyond the rectangle of the ship's frame.

Retractable Type S
The retractable S type stabilisers represent the best solution for larger passenger ships, ferries, special vessels and yachts.

Fresh water generators

Seawater evaporators
operating under vacuum using the cooling water from the main entine or auxilliary generators or other heat source. Output 1cu m/day to 40 cu m/day.

Reverse osmosis freshwater generators
with output of 2 cu m/day to 50 cu m/day

Water hardening filters
to convert distilled water to fresh water in accordance with WHO. Outputs from 6 cu m/day to 240 cu m/day

Copper ion generator
to keep sea water cooling circuits free from encrustaceans for treatment of 300m3 to 3,500m3/h sea water

Plummer block bearings

Bearings to support the shaft between the gearbox and the forward seal. For shaft sizes from 160 - 940 mm

Rudder stock bearings and seals

Rudder stock sealings and carrier bearings

Steering gear

Rotary vane steering gear with exceptionally fast response times and wide rudder angles up to 60°. Can also be used for rudder stabilisation.

SIMPLEX sterntube bushes (stern tube bushes)

White metal bearings up to a length of 2,800 mm at an outside diameter of 1100 mm. Larger sizes are available on request.
