Cylinder liners

Simplex-Turbulo supplies high quality cylinder liners suitable for a range of different four-stroke engines.

All our liners are centrifugally cast using different grades of cast iron according to the requirements of each different engine model. The blanks are then finish machined using high-precision CNC machine tools. Due to advanced robotic equipment liners can be manufactured in smaller batches, shortening delivery times. Sometimes it is also possible to machine several different executions of liner from one basic blank, and for this reason we hold stock of some blanks so that we can respond quickly to the changing needs to the market.

Cylinder liners are subjected to rigorous inspection in particular with regard to the material specification as well as the geometric dimensions and the surface-related parameters.

The cylinder liner is one of the components in a diesel engine which is subjected to the greatest structural stress. The metallurgical technology involved is increasingly sophisticated, especially with regard to the production of blanks. For this reason our suppliers have state-of-the-art research facilities run by highly-qualified specialist personnel. Most of liners we supply are made from alloyed lamellar graphite cast iron which enables the cylinder liner to perform excellently both from a mechanical as well as an abrasion resistance point of view.

Most cylinder liners are plateau-honed. Additional treatment such as annealing, roller burnishing, phosphating, nitriding, and chromium and nickel plating can also be arranged. The cylinder liners we supply are approved by leading technical supervision and classification bodies such as Lloyds Register of Shipping, Germanischer Lloyd, Det Norske Veritas, Buro Veritas etc.
